Instructor Development Course (IDC)
The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the standard for instructor training. The IDC allows you to learn quickly and effectively with state-of-the-art educational materials. It's the most comprehensive program in the industry. The IDC is also the heart of PADI Instructor training. During the course, you'll apply your dive knowledge and skills while learning to use the PADI System of diver education in the classroom and in the water. The IDC is really two courses in one -- the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program. Because you can split the course into two blocks, the IDC fits into your busy schedule.
Performance Based Training
Over the years PADI developed educational process, called Performance Based Training. This means that you progress as you demonstrate that you have mastered specific performance requirements essential to becoming a diver. Your instructor is there to help you meet these requirements, regardless of how quickly or slowly you master them.
Vocational Training Recognition
PADI Instructor Development Courses provided through PADI affiliated centers have received vocational training recognition by the Vocational Education Training and Accreditation Board (VETAB) in Australia, by the New Zealand Qualification Authority and in the United Kingdom on the National Qualification Framework. Professional Quality
Just as you must earn every PADI certification, PADI Instructors must complete a development program that sets the industry standard for instructor training. Each new PADI Instructor demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the PADI System and the ability to conduct PADI programs by meeting specific criteria. Before earning the PADI Instructor rating, all candidates are evaluated by a select group of PADI-employed Instructor Examiners. This ensures that the evaluation process is objective, fair and consistent worldwide.
